Peru, fifty baby alpacas die from cold weather

Alpacas Fifty babies died in recent days, following the intense cold, rain and thunderstorm in the area of Pucuncho, located at the top of the Salamanca district, province of Condesuyos, Arequipa region.
Hipólito Llerena, mayor of Salamanca said of 20 thousand llamas only seven thousand have been assisted with medications, and has asked support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Civil Defense to preserve the life of these animals. Read Article
