Peru expects shortages of electrical power until second half of 2013

The electricity supply in the country is regularized only this Monday, when completion of the maintenance of the Mantaro hydroelectric plant, said Cesar Butron, Chairman of the Economic Operation of Interconnected System (COES).
Thus, the energy reserve return to a level of between 8% and 10%. The plant handles 800 megawatts of power, and increased demand could lead to the outage. PROBLEMS CONTINUE
Butron also warned that the current level of reserves does not ensure a “comfortable position for the country” in terms of electricity. Read Article
