Peru: Air controllers threaten indefinite strike if dialogue is not resumed

Although commercial flights began yesterday without any problems at airports around the country during the first day of air traffic controllers strike , Alberto Pimentel, secretary general of the United Trade Union of Air Traffic Controllers of Peru (Sucta), warned that his Guild goes to an indefinite nationwide strike if the state does not intervene to resume dialogue and meet their demands for better wages and working conditions. “We are likely to receive the call from the government or Córpac to establish a dialogue table and automatically lift the strike, but if at the end of these 72-hour stoppage this does not happen, our measure will force indefinitely,” he said.
