Peru: 121,000 visit Cusco, Machu Picchu since reopening

Cusco has reopened its doors to tourism after recovering from the disasters caused by landslides , and in recent weeks over 121 thousand tourists came to the city, officials said. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) promoted the campaign “Cusco says” that bid, between February 10 and March 31, sales for Peruvian travelers up to 50% in the prices of tourism services. Promperú indicated that over 121 thousand tourists, mostly young Peruvians traveled to the ancient Inca capital on two domestic airlines during this period. For its part, the president of the Peruvian Association of Tour Operators and Internal (APOTUR), Heddy Espinoza, told the Andina news agency that visits to Cuzco during the campaign would have increased between 10 and 20%.
