Over Half of Colombian Mines Are Illegal

Colombian Vice minister of Environment, Carlos Castaño, states that 53% of mines in Colombia are illegal. There are over 6,000 mines in the country in 18 different departments. Castaño says that many of the mines operate under badly submitted titles due to Ingeominas*. He affirms that the government and the Ministry of Environment will work to correct this and to avoid environmental harm. Read Article
