Oil Importation Set back to 2021 Due to Heavy Crude Oil, Colombia

•El Espectador reveals that oil importation to Colombia is to be postponed until 2021 due to focus on heavy crude oil.
•According to the goals of President Santos, minister of Mines and Energy Carlos Rodado Noriega hopes that by December 2014, production will be 1,350,000 barrels a day.
•Currently, 60% of Colombia’s production is made up of crude oil mining.
•During negotiations between 2007 and 2011, 12 million hectares were agreed to be set aside for Ecopetrol to exploit oil in the Orinoquía Region of Colombia.
•Minister Noriega states that in these areas, security and socio-environmental issues will be under consideration. Read Article
