Multiple Drug Seizures in Peru

From Diario Correo on June 3, 2013- Four “burriers” were discovered attempting to smuggle 32 kilos of coca paste through the Valley of the Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (Vraem). This areas is commonly used for drug trafficking and in response the National Police of Peru (PNP) have set up numerous checkpoints. In operation “Diamond,” police from San Miguel in the La Mar province apprehended Jetron Faustino Taipe Allcca and Fermin Borda Castillo as they were trying to transport 10 kilos of drugs hidden in their vehicle. The arrest occurred in the city of Ninabamba. Later on, authorities arrested two people for transporting 22 kilos 500 grams of cocaine. This intervention occurred at a checkpoint on kilometer 3 near Carhuahuran San Jose.  The suspects were identified as Freddy Aguila Cayas and Pedro Rondoy Umbo.
