loc.gov (source)Ecuador’s Código de Procedimiento Penal (Code of Criminal Procedure)[37] provides that at the time of detention the suspect must be informed of the reasons for his or her detention and of the identity of the authority who ordered it and of the agents carrying out the detention and interrogation. The suspect must also be informed of his or her right to remain silent, to seek have a lawyer present, and to communicate with a family member or any other person of his or her choice.[38] SOURCE
