Military Denies that FARC Has Detained 200 in Chocó, Colombia

•Admiral Edgar Cely contradicts the report made by Father Constantino García on Monday that the people are being used as human shields to block the Atrato river per elespectador.com.
•He declared that the commando Conjunto Caribe and Division 7 would move to Quibdó to ensure the safety of the Atrato river and the surrounding people.
•Defender of the People, Volmar Pérez, said that there were 150 people that could not return home from Las Mercedes, but did not specify that this was due to coercion by FARC.
•Germán Vargas Lleras, minister of the Interior and Justice, called for the recognition of the fact that FARC is indeed detaining these individuals.
•Luis Moreno, mayor of Medio Atrato says that these people have been detained since Sunday and remain without food. Read Article
