Middlemen of Mexican Cartels Arrested in Costa Rica

El Universal reports:
• Three Colombians and seven Costa Ricans were arrested Thursday in Costa Rica; they are believed to be part of a powerful international organization involved in drug trafficking and money laundering
• 15 raids were conducted nationwide to act on an Interpol arrest warrant for Colombian Leudo Nieves, wanted by the U.S. Drug Enforcment Agency; Nieves was among those arrested
• The arrested men are suspected of smuggling drugs to various cartels, including the Zetas
• Costa Rica is a key pass-through point for traffickers between Colombia and the cartels in Mexico; an estimated 600 to 900 tons of drugs pass through Costa Rica each year
