Mexico: Study Suggests 80% of Kidnappers Know Their Victims

On June 19, 2013 El Occidental reported on a recent study by the Multisystems Industrial Security Group, which concluded that 80% of kidnappers in Mexico know their victims. According to the study, kidnapping is not performed solely for economic purposes, but also to commit other crimes such as human trafficking, sexual exploitation and organ trafficking. Moreover, at times the kidnapping is used by criminal organizations as an illegal recruitment tool in order to force victims to join their organization. Read Article
