Mexico, Primedic: Affordable Health Care For The Urban Poor

Maria de la Concepción Martínez is a 32-year-old micro-entrepreneur living in the outskirts of Solidaridad, an inner city slum in Monterrey (Mexico’s third-largest city by population and its industrial giant). Three times a week she wakes up at 4 a.m. and takes an hour-long bus ride to visit the Juarez Market, where she purchases fresh supplies for her neighborhood grocery shop. The shop has been up and running for three years, and was made possible by working capital loans by one of Mexico’s largest microfinance institutions. Read Article
