Mexico: European beer brewers compete for Mexican market

According to El Economista.com, the Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) acquired Grupo Modelo for $20,100 million further displacing Mexican companies in the beer market which had already suffered when the Dutch company Heineken bought FEMSA Cerveza in 2010. With sales of over $46,000 million, AB InBev now represents 56% of beer sales in Mexico, a leader in beer exports with presence in 180 countries and annual sales close to 7,330 million dollars.
