Mexico: Dengue Reduced by 80% in Oaxaca

Incidences of dengue in the state of Oaxaca have been reduced by 80% in comparison to 2010, with only 225 cases reported compared to last year’s 1,136, Ciudania Express reports. Oaxaca Health Services (SSO) is attributing the reduction to increased measures by the agency and residents to combat the disease. The agency has treated 494,609 houses for the larvae which can cause dengue, as well as spraying over 2800 acres for the same purpose. They have also been very strict with tourist areas and controlling the possible risk of infection through movement between states and high-risk areas. Read Article
