Mexico City: Rescue of Xochimilco Lake District Planned

The local administration is presenting a plan of action to save the famed river boat district of Xochimilco, El Universal reports. The wetlands district has experienced extreme deterioration, despite investments by state and federal agencies. The local government is pairing with the Ministry of Environment and the Natural Resources commission to estimate the costs of preserving the area, including removing rubble and deterring aquatic pests.
