Mexico City, Mexico: 13 Sex Trafficking “Hot Spots” Identified

On August 19, 2013 Dominio Ciudadano Noticias reported the identification of 13 “hot spots” in Mexico City with a high concentration of sex trafficking activity. The sites include La Merced, Garibaldi, Sullivan, Avenida de los Insurgentes, Reforma, Tlalpan, Plaza de la Soledad, the Santo Tomás and Manzanares alleyways, Zona Rosa, Buenavista, Roma and Condesa.
This information comes from a report by the Regional Coalition Against Trafficking in Women and Girls in Latin America and the Caribbean. According to the report which used data from 2012, the victims come from countries such as Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Cuba, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, China and Central America. Among Mexican sex trafficking victims are women from Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla, Guerrero, Tabasco, Quintana Roo and Veracruz. Read Article
