Mexico: “Bad Weather” Threatens Food Production

Vanguardia reports:
• Frosts, droughts, floods and other natural phenomena are seriously affecting Mexico’s production of essential crops
• 23 of Mexico’s 32 states are affected by the worst drought in 70 years; largest grain-producing states are most affected and many consider the year a total loss
• 20 million tons of crops are threatened as well as revenues of over 3.5 million farmers and producers of basic grains
• Rainy season has begun, but most experts say that the high concentration of rains could do more harm than good
