Men Arrested on Brazil-Paraguay Border, Face Charges of International Drug Trafficking

On April 17, 2013, Campo Grande News reported that two men were arrested in Paranhos, 469 kilometers from Campo Grande and on the border between Brazil and Paraguay.  Originally police wanted Leonardo Rocha Gonçalves, 22, on a robbery charge; but upon his arrest, they found additional evidence linking him to Edmar Alegre da Cunha, 28.  Upon investigating da Cunha, police found marijuana and hashish.  Da Cunha stated to police that he obtained the drugs in Ypej-hu, a Paraguayan city across the border, and was to deliver them to Gonçalves to sell.  Both men will face international drug trafficking charges.  Read Article
