Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil: Ranked 3rd for Highest Rates of Human Trafficking Activity

correiodoestado.com.br reported that on June 11, 2013 that the state of Mato Grosso do Sul is the third state in Brazil; behind Bahia and Pernambuco, with the highest number of victims of human trafficking. According to a survey by the Federal Region Courts, many of the victims are natives who live along the border regions of Paraguay and Bolivia. In response, the 3rd International Symposium for Combating Trafficking in Persons will take place at the end of the month to raise awareness and discuss possible solutions to the crime. Read Article
