Manabí declared provincial emergency due to rains
metroecuador.com.ec reported…. Six cantons of the province declared the cantonal emergency on February 24, 2017: San Vicente, Chone, Manta, Montecristi, Portoviejo and Tosagua.

The Emergency Operations Committee (COE) Provincial signed an emergency declaration for Manabí this Sunday, March 5, 2017 in order to have resources to face the landslides and floods caused by heavy rains, which have left more than 600 families In foster homes and temporary shelters.

Six cantons of the province declared the cantonal emergency on February 24, 2017: San Vicente, Chone, Manta, Montecristi, Portoviejo and Tosagua.

Manabí is on an orange alert and now in emergency due to the winter season, different from the current state of emergency that corresponds to the effects of the earthquake of April 16, 2016 and subsequent aftershocks, said Xavier Santos, governor of the Province.

“This allows us to use the available resources and put them in order in response to the floods,” Santos told El Comercio newspaper.
