Lima, Peru: People Participate in Massive Earthquake Drill

According in ElComercio.pe Tuesday June 28th residents in Lima and Callao participated in a general earthquake drill under the control of the National Civil Defense Institute (INDECI) with the support of Mayor Villaran of Lima. Officials report that about 4,000 residents attended a large drill held in the Plaza de Armas in Lima. The residents responded favorably to the precautionary steps taken by INDECI, officials add. The drill held in the Plaza was for a 7.9 magnitude earthquake, while the one in Callao was for a smaller magnitude. Thirty-six provinces participated in separate earthquake drills that also prepared residents for the risk of a tsunami says Luis Muller, sub-general of the Civil Defense.Read Article
