La Mariscal Quito Ecuador, popular tourist area, high crime rates

The scale trafficking of drugs, robberies, assaults and even prostitution are among other major problems afflicting the sector of La Mariscal in Quito.

According Victimization Survey Metropolitan Public Safety Observatory (CSOM), La Mariscal ranks ninth among the ten most dangerous neighborhoods considered Quito. To this is added which is the sector with the greatest impact on personal assault. In fact, the agency has registered 589 complaints of robberies, assaults and thefts from January to April this year.

The President of the Security Committee of the Municipality of Quito, Marco Ponce said that because of its attractions, the area is a target for criminals who have a number of potential victims, of which the tourist is a victim preference, as many have no interest in denouncing or know how.
