Judge Returns Land Sold by Paramilitary Groups to Original Owners

•Rcnradio.com reports that the lands in Mutatá, Antioquia Casa Mía, El Roble and Los Almedros, were sold by Hernando Cardona Higuita, whom paramilitaries killed in 1997, in 2000 according to the signed contract.
•Members of the Alrex Hurtado front of the AUC took these lands.
•At the time of the sale, judges were not declared able to pass judgment on these kinds of cases even though the Attorney General 17 requested for the return of the land to the owners and the cancelation of the documents.
•However, on March 30th of this year, the Attorney General resolved that guarantee control judges had the power to invalidate these kinds of claims made involving the armed conflict.
•Thus, Judge Jesús Olimpo Castaño Quintero returned the lands, adding up to 105 hectares, to the rightful owners after considering the evidence offered by the Attorney General. Read Article
