Indigenous Panamanians to March against Mining Law

Indigenous organizations in Panama province are preparing a national mobilization against a mining law reform despite government promises not to promote that activity in Cerro Colorado and other districts. District leaders rejected an agreement between the government of Ricardo Martinelli and tribal chief Rogelio Moreno stipulating the abstention from beginning, promoting or approving the prospecting and exploiting of mines in indigenous jurisdictions.
