Indigenous Colombians Protest War in Their Territories

•On Wednesday, July 20th, 2011, a group of 5,000 indigenous Colombians gathered in Toribío to protest war and military actions within their territories.
•El Tiempo relates that they have declared themselves in permanent minga* and that they are asking the Colombian government to amend their policies concerning actions within their territories as well as calling a stop to the guerillas recruiting youths.
•They declare that they suffer punishment for the actions of the guerillas which include drug activity.
•They also protested the actions of multinational companies and mining companies that take advantage of and destroy their resources. Read Article
