Human Trafficking Affects 20 Million Mexicans Annually

On August 3, 2013 Quadratin Noticias reported that the situation of human trafficking in Mexico is becoming increasingly serious. According to PAN Senator Luisa María Calderón Hinojosa, around 20 thousand people are affected by this crime each year, including 16,000 children. The senator added that trafficking is still viewed as socially acceptable in Mexico and that women continue to be objectified largely by Mexican society. Moreover, despite recent advances by the Mexican government in combatting human trafficking, Mexico remains an origin, transit and destination country for this crime. Read Article
