Guayaquil, Ecuador: yellow cabs at increased risk of kidnap express

The governor of Guayas, Robert Leather, acknowledged yesterday at the weekly meeting of the Board of Public Safety, the incidence of express kidnappings aboard yellow cabs. The event was held in the meeting room of the City of saltpeter, where Leather explained that all cases of express registered in the last week “unfortunately have been in yellow cabs.” The governor gave no figures of this crime, but said that it is linked to the fact that the owners of the units rent their vehicles to people who are not registered in the database of the Transit Commission of Ecuador (CTE).
