Guatemala, Deputies ratify state of siege in Petén for 30 days

After a lengthy special session in Congress, the House approved on Tuesday the state of siege in Petén established by the executive yesterday, effective for 30 days. The ratification was achieved by a vote of 124 deputies.
This measure will limit freedom of movement of persons, freedom of action, lawful detention, the right of assembly and demonstrations as well as the carrying of firearms. Read Article
