Guadalajara, Mexico: Suspect Arrested for Exploiting Women and Children for Labor

On August 5, 2013 Unión Jalisco Noticias reported the arrest of Joel García López on charges of human trafficking. The arrest was made possible by an anonymous complaint that informed police the suspect had forced a woman to sell candy from seven in the morning until six in the afternoon without pay. Police later determined that the suspect was exploiting a total of three men and four women. In the evenings after the victims finished their work each day, the suspect kept his victims locked away at a property that he rented out. Read Article
