Galapagos Islands, Hong Kong diplomat charged with possession, transportation of engangered species

A diplomatic officer from Hong Kong is being charged for possession and transporting endangered species from the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. The police report indicated that the diplomat’s luggage was checked at the airport on Baltra Island after being alerted by a search dog. His luggage contained 20 dried seahorses, 37 unknown marine species, and possible shark parts, which are protected under Ecuadorian law. Formal charges are being filed.
