Fifty percent of sexual abuse cases in Quito are committed in victim’s home

The perpetrator of a rape is a person known to the victim in 61% of cases, according to the Metropolitan Public Safety Observatory (CSOM). Of that percentage, 21% corresponds to an acquaintance, 9% to a relative, 7% for the stepparent, 5% of the bridegroom, 3% to the parent, and so on., As the 15 th report of the body, corresponding to 2010.Between January and September 2011, the CSOM recorded 235 violations in Quito.
