Farmers struggle as land prices inflate in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Rental prices for grain producing fields are inflating in Pehuajó, Buenos Aires as agricultural power players like Calyx Agro and Nidera have begun renting mediocre quality land for higher prices, according to infocampo.com.ar. In 2011 Calyx Agro has rented large amounts of land in the area for 1800 pesos per hectare, raising prices for other land owners to 2100 pesos a hectare. Smaller farmers cannot keep up with the competition and cannot afford to pay more for less business.
