FARC takes a gamble

During the past two days, the FARC has carried out two attacks on two separate towns in the departments of the Colombian Pacific. First, a bike loaded with 50 kilograms of explosives was detonated in front of the police station in the port of Tumaco (Nariño) which left 9 dead. A day later, a truck bomb exploded outside the police station of Villa Rica (Cauca) with the result of another 6 dead. These attacks are the most visible point of the beginning of the year particularly difficult to combat terrorism in Colombia.

Earlier this year, there were armed clashes between units of Task Force Omega and the guerrillas in the region of the Macarena. Less than three weeks later, a radar station in Santa Ana (Cauca) was destroyed. These three incidents were above dimensions than usual to the extent that the FARC focused on each of them more than a hundred fighters. So, there are two issues that need to be answered.
