FARC declares French journalist prisoner of war

A reporter for Radio Caracol that had traveled to La Union Peneya, rural village in the department of Caquetá where the events occurred , received a phone call from an alleged rebel through which the FARC reported the whereabouts of Langlois. “We French journalist in our power,” said the woman, according to the correspondent. “We have declared a prisoner of war,” he said without comment on the decision of the guerrillas, adopted in December, to renounce kidnapping civilians . According to the reporter’s story Colombian insurgents justified this decision with the fact that Langlois was wearing a helmet and vest for military use. The call was also confirmed that the hostage has a gunshot wound to the shoulder, a version that had transpired in the story of some of the soldiers who formed the group was attacked by guerrillas on Saturday, an event that caused the death of four elements of the security forces.
