FARC Anniversary Prompts Capture of Boats and Passengers

As the anniversary of FARC’s creation draws near, a series of captures has been taking place as part of an “armed strike” as announced by pamphlets distributed by the groups per radiosantafe.com. Today, 143 people who travelled through the Atrado River in the Chocó department of Colombia were detained by FARC. The group is keeping the people they have detained in the area between Medio Atrato and Quibdó according to Luis Moreno, Mayor of Medio Atrato. The main means of transportation relies on water and so far FARC has blocked citizens from using the river capturing boats with cargo and people aboard. Read Article
