The Expansion of China in Latin America

•A study by Cepal states that China invested $15.251 billion USD in 2010, which was 9% of Latin American income making it the third investor in the region per opinon.eluniversal.com.
•99% of Chinese investment was focused on Argentina and Brazil in 2010.
•In 2011, China is planning to invest $22.74 billion dollars with Brazil receiving $9.87 billion, Peru receiving $8.64 billion and Argentina $3.530 billion.
•Venezuela and its provision of oil have helped China become the second largest economy in the world.
• China’s investment in Venezuela follows the example of other countries’ investment shown in the negative influx with an outflow of over $1.4 billion in capital in comparison with incoming capital.
•Due to the fervor against private business and such things as the nationalization of businesses, Venezuela is losing out on technology and job opportunities as well as foreign investment which is going to countries such as Peru and Colombia instead. Read Article
