El Hoyo, Argentina: Authorities Unable to Confirm if Trafficking Behind Recent Kidnapping

On August 15, 2013 Ruta 40 Noticias reported that after two women and two children were rescued during a recent police raid on a house in the town of El Hoyo, authorities were initially led to believe it was a possible case of human trafficking. However, authorities are now lacking the evidence to determine whether human trafficking was in fact involved after the two women reversed their statements to police.

According to Prosecutor María Bottini, “After hearing the testimonies we could not confirm that it was a case of human trafficking… if there were some indicators that would cause us to proceed in this fashion. So far we are still investigating it at the provincial headquarters.” Read Article
