Ecuador’s Inflation among Lowest in Andean Region

Ecuador closed 2010 with an annual inflation rate of 3.33 percent, considered one of the lowest in South America, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC). INEC Director Byron Villacis said the index met expectations (3.4 percent) and was lower than that of 2009 (4.31 percent). The current cost of the family basket is USD $544.7 while household income reaches USD $448, considering 1.6 workers per family on average, a deficit of USD $96.7, meaning 17.7 percent. Read Article
