Ecuadorian Government Launches Investigation into Death of Barcelona Fan

  • According to the president’s private secretary, Gustavo Jalkh, an investigation will be launched into the death of an Ecuadorian who was beaten to death by supporters of a soccer team during a game in Guayaquil on Sunday June 12th.
  • The game was between Barcelona, a Guayaquil team and Liga de Quito, a team from Ecuador’s capital.
  • Jalkh expressed his firm rejection of all violent encounters in any situation.
  • The government is regarding the death of Marcos Rodriguez Delgado as a serious matter and will demand sanctions against those who committed the act of violence.
  • The Minister of Sports, Jose Francisco Cevallos, went on to say that the sport should be experienced as a party and that the passion should not turn into violence in the stadium or in bars.Read Article
