Ecuadorian Air Force Pilot Hurt in Plane Explosion

According to ElUniverso.com Ecuadorian Air Force pilot, Galo Alvarez was seriously injured in a cabin explosion that occurred at 1 p.m. today, Monday August 15th. Authorities say the explosion occurred due to decompression in the cabin and not a crash. Alvarez was able to safety return to Taura air force base and was immediately transferred to a navy hospital. Authorities say the Cheetah planes are from South Africa and arrived this past May. The Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) is looking to modernize it’s supersonic fleet of air force planes. The Navy is purchasing 12 planes for a reported $78.5 million, which includes consulting and maintenance of the aircraft by the South African company for the next five years.Read Article
