Ecuador to make aggressive push for Chinese tourists, to begin with charter flights

The Ecuadorian government has launched an ambitious plan to turn his country into a landmark destination for Chinese tourists, whose flow expected to multiply by 8 the next four years.

This was said by the deputy minister of Tourism and Investments of Ecuador, Patricio Tamariz Duenas, who is in Beijing to give impetus to the plan, after the official visit this week to China’s Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño.

According Tamariz, his government considers tourism a strategic sector to diversify the economy and make it less dependent on the extraction of raw materials.

President Rafael Correa believes that this change to a “truly sustainable development can be led by tourism” sector, which this year will reach 1.3 million visitors to the Andean country, said the deputy minister. Read Article
