Ecuador to spur development of 36 mining projects

iii.co.uk reported Ecuador’s government, which halted mining operations in 2008 in a bid to redraft mining legislation, said it now plans to spur 36 projects to produce gold, copper and molybdenum.

The Andean country has lined up 96 projects in the mining and manufacturing industries which will require US$37bn in financing, said the minister for strategic resources, Rafael Poveda.

Mining projects include Llumiragua, Tola Norte, Nanguipa, El Torneado, La Bonita, Telimbela, Pacto and Sangola, Poveda said in a statement posted on the Ecuadoran presidency website. Read Article
