Ecuador: Telecom agency orders Movistar to cease service in five areas, poor quality

Telegeography.com reported that Ecuador’s Superintendency of Telecommunications (Supertel) has ordered Telefonica subsidiary Movistar to cease marketing five localities as having 3G coverage, as the service quality in those areas failed to meet criteria as measured by the regulator, Telesemana reports. Movistar must remove the following areas from its list of 3G coverage zones: Ramon Campana (in the province of Cotopaxi), Colon Eloy de Maria (Esmeraldas province), Checa (Pichincha), Dureno and Lumbaqui (Sucumbios).
