Ecuador, Taking Steps to Protect Against E. Coli

According to Expreso.ec, the Ministry of Health in Ecuador is closely watching the situation transpiring in Germany related to the E. Coli bacteria. A new variant of E. Coli EHEC can be transferred through food or respiratory factors. The Ministry is working with the WHO recommendations for preventive measures. Ecuador officials are controlling entry into the country with increased security at ocean ports and international airports. Those travelers from Europe who are experiencing kidney discomfort or diarrhea with blood are immediately placed under observation. As of now there is no restriction of travel for people or good, but strict measures are in place. The ministry is calling for increase hygiene alertness and taking steps to maintain a healthy environment. People who present symptoms, abdominal cramps, dehydrations, fatigue, diarrhea, mild fever, nausea or vomiting are encouraged to visit a medical center immediately.Read Article
