Ecuador: shortage of drug treatment centers

Fabricio Delgado, technical director of the Institute of Neurosciences, Guayaquil Welfare Board, says that despite all the efforts that have been made to prevent the consumption, the average age of first use is maintained between 13 and 14 years. Therefore argues that we must intensify prevention in the most vulnerable group. The center opened in 2010 a processing unit of addictive behaviors.
A study by the National Council for Control of Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (Consep) in Guayaquil there are 68 addiction treatment centers, but only 20 would be legally recognized by the Ministry of Public Health. Read Article
