Ecuador: report at U.N. states 25.19% of the population victims of theft, highest in region

Ecuadorenvivo.com reported that according to the Regional human development report 2013-2014, presented in New York by the United Nations, 25 of every 100 Ecuadorians were victims of theft during 2012, i.e. 25.19% of the population. This is the highest percentage recorded in Latin America according to the data obtained from 18 countries in the region. It is followed by Peru, with 23.43%; Bolivia, with 22.56%; and Uruguay, 19.13%. “The theft a problem of insecurity for the majority of the countries of the region,” the report said. Adds that most of these crimes are securities relatively less so fail to be reported.
