Ecuador: President moves ahead for referendum

Ecuador President Lenin Moreno on Monday pushed ahead with his plan for a national referendum on amendments to the nation’s charter by proposing that the Constitutional Court review a set of questions so they can be put to voters as soon as possible.

In a nationwide broadcast Monday evening, Moreno said he wants to submit seven questions for consideration in a referendum, with a reinstatement of term limits for elected officials at the top of his list. He said he would also propose lifetime bans on individuals and companies found guilty of graft from holding office or contracting with the government.  Read Full Article
