Ecuador: Pichincha, Imbabura, Sucumbíos and Guayas Showing Highest Incidence of Human Trafficking

On September 26, 2012 El Comercio Noticias reported that police in Ecuador have identified the provinces of Pichincha, Imbabura, Sucumbíos and Guayas as the areas showing the greatest incidence of human trafficking in the country, particularly in terms of sexual exploitation.
According to the police report, most of the trafficking victims come from Cotopaxi, Manabí, Los Ríos, Guayas and El Oro. These locations are also used to connect to international trafficking routes leading to and from Colombia.
