Ecuador: Organ donors for transplants increase

elnuevoempresario.com reported that the director of the National Institute of Organ Donation and Transplantation, INDOT, Diana Almeida, said the country has increased citizens who voluntarily agree to donate an organ to save a life. This act of solidarity is an achievement of the validity of the Law on Donation and Transplantation of organs, tissues and cells. The official emphasized that the Act has created a public awareness of the importance of organ donation and trasplantológica management. So in 2011 the INDOT closed with an index of 2.1 donors per million population. In 2012 was closed with 3.7 donors per million population.
