Ecuador officials connected in corruption investigation entangled with Australian firm

couriermail.com.au reported a corruption investigation entangling Brisbane-based engineering outfit Cardno reached the top levels of government in Ecuador, according to leaked legal documents.

Payments of more than $US1.5 million ($A1.95 million) were alleged. The documents further detailed a secret code and allegations of payoffs to high-ranking officials.

Cardno in 2012, amid an acquisition splurge, bought Ecuadorian subsidiary Caminosca for more than $15 million. But it revealed in 2015 it was probing payments from Caminosca linked to State-associated contracts. There is no suggestion any Australians are involved in the alleged corruption process.
